Plastic Carboys

What is a Plastic Carboy?
The word carboy, as defined by Websters, is a large glass bottle encased in a basket or or box, used especially for the holding of corrosive liquids.

The term \plastic carboy\ is essentially industrial jargon which means a plastic container of similar size (5 gallons) which is also appropriate for use with corrosive or hazardous materials, within the limitaions of plastic.

While they where probably first developed to serve as a plastic equivalent to their glass counterparts their use has grown to include non-hazardous materials aswell. Due to their efficient size and sturdy construction many industries have found these containers are superior to other methods of shipping and storage for both hazardous and non-hazardous materials.

Round Plastic Carboys
Our round plastic carboys are stocked in 5 and 6 gallon sizes in a variety of colors and fittings. Fittings include standard 70mm screw plugs and caps or Rieke flexspout closures.

Plastic Jerricans

Natural and Pigmented Plastic Jerricans
This is another term for the rectangular plastic carboy. It is the correct term for UN regulations.

Plastic Bottles

What is a plastic bottle?
This may at first glance appear to be a ridiculous question. Actually a fair amount of confusion surrounds the naming conventions for bottles, jars and jugs.

To alleviate some of this confusion we have provided the following definitions list. Please select the item that most accurately describes what is that you are looking for.

Plastic Bottles
Any item made of plastic that has no handle and an opening which is less than 50% of the diameter of the container

Plastic Jugs
Any item made of plastic which has a handle and an opening which is greater or less than 50% of the diameter of the main container body.

None of these definitions should be viewed as applicable in all cases. They are meant to provide some clarification for recognizing the distinction amongst bottles, jars and jugs and to establish a simple monitoring logic by which these items could be divided into more distinct product areas.

Cylindrical Plastic Bottles
Cylindrical plastic bottles are stocked in sizes ranging from 1 oz to 32oz. Standard plastic and metal screw caps and spouted or flip top caps are available for many sizes.

Modern Round Plastic Bottles
Modern Round plastic bottles are stocked in sizes ranging from 4 oz to 32oz. Standard plastic and metal screw caps and spouted or flip top caps are available for many sizes.

Widemouth Plastic Jars
Widemouth plastic jars are those which have a opening which is slightly smaller than the the main body of the jar. The distinction between Straight Sided jars and Widemouth Plastic Jars is found on the interior of the jar. Widemouth Jars have a slight ridge at the neck of the jar so that when the cap is applied to the jar it is vertically flush with the exterior of the jar.

Widemouth plastic jars are stocked in sizes ranging from 16oz to 32oz.

Straight Sided Plastic Jars
Straight Sided plastic jars have an opening which is the same diameter as the main body of the jar. The interior is completely flush and smooth.

Straight sided plastic jars are available in sizes ranging from 1/4 oz to 32oz.

CC Round and Standard Round Plastic Jars
These jars have an opening which is smaller than the main diameter of the jar, (they are often called bottles because of this). The best example of this type of jar is probably sitting in your medicine cabinet. Aspirin and pills often come packed in CC round jars/bottles.
