Covers: steel and plastic
We offer a variety of cover and closer options for our plastic pails and steel pails. The following summaries should assist you in determining which cover option is most appropriate for your need.
Steel Pail Covers
Lug Covers for steel pails
Lug covers are seated onto the pail and then secured with a hand operated crimping tool that bends the lugs over the head of the pail.
Spouted Lug Covers for steel pails
These covers are applied in the same manner as standard lug covers. They include a Rieke flexspout which is integrated into the cover allowing the end user to get at the product without removing the cover.
Dish Covers for steel pails
Unlike lug covers, dish covers utilize a two piece closure system. The gasketed cover is seated on the pail and secured to the pail with a closure ring. We offer both lever lock style closure rings and bolt and nut style closure rings.
The main advantage to the dish cover and ring configuration is that the pail can be opened and closed repeatedly while still retaining it's integrity.
Plastic Pail Covers
Teartab Covers for plastic pails
Teartab covers are typically considered the default cover for most plastic pails. Like most covers they are pounded onto the pail. The end user removes a small tear tab from around the bottom of the cover. The tear tab is very similar in principal to the tear strip commonly found on milk bottles. The cover can then be removed.
Spouted Teartab Covers for plastic pails
Spouted covers are identical to standard teartab covers with the exception of the inclusion of a pour spout which is integrated into the cover. The end user removes a tamper evident seal covering the spout, unscrews the cap and accesses the product through the spout. In this was the cover does not have to be removed and the product inside is not as exposed to elements outside the pail.
